Hotel safety
- Portable door lock or door-stop alarm for extra security from inside.
- Avoid ground-floor rooms when you can choose at check-in.
- Privacy rule: never say your room number aloud in the lobby. Book vetted hotels with strong reviews.
Digital safety
- Share Location enabled (live location shared with 1–2 trusted contacts).
- Photos of all documents (passport, visa, insurance) saved to yourself in a messenger app.
- Medical ID filled in on your phone (blood type, allergies, emergency contacts visible without unlocking).
City safety
- Split your money: main card hidden deep; second card in pocket with a small balance for daily purchases.
- Offline map loaded with pins (hotel, embassy, safe areas). Set up an eSIM before leaving the airport.
- Crossbody bag (harder to snatch than a single-shoulder bag).
Prep your phone with the smartphone checklist and verify documents in the pre-trip documents list.
