Haarlem

Haarlem is often called “Amsterdam in miniature.” It is only about 15 minutes by train, with classic Dutch architecture and far less capital hustle. Do not miss the Frans Hals Museum and Grote Markt square. A popular evening add-on is Zandvoort beach.

Utrecht

Utrecht’s signature feature is its two-level canals, with restaurant terraces on the lower quay. Climb the 112-meter Dom Tower for a city panorama. Fast Intercity trains leave Amsterdam roughly every 15 minutes.
