Must-see Gaudí works first

Antoni Gaudí (Barcelona School of Architecture, born in Reus) turned Catalan Modernisme into a visual language of curves, trencadís, and filtered light. Start with the sites below — addresses and nearest metro included.

Sagrada Família — city icon

Carrer de Mallorca, 401 · metro Sagrada Família (L2/L5). Plan ~1.5–2 hours inside; add ~30–40 minutes for a tower. The Tower of Jesus Christ was inaugurated in June 2026, but construction continues. Booking details: Sagrada Família tickets guide.

Park Güell

Carrer d'Olot / Carretera del Carmel 23 entrance · bus 24 beats the Vallcarca climb. Monumental zone: ~1.5 hours. Woodland areas are free; mosaics and the dragon stair need a timed ticket. See the Park Güell tickets guide.

Casa Batlló and Casa Milà

Both on Passeig de Gràcia: Batlló at No. 43 (Passeig de Gràcia metro), Milà / La Pedrera at No. 92 (Diagonal / Passeig de Gràcia). Façades are free; interiors take ~1 hour each. On a tight budget, go inside one house and photograph the other from the street.

One-day walking route: logistics and timing

Morning at Casa Vicens

Carrer de les Carolines, 20–26 · metro Fontana (L3). Gaudí’s first house (~1–1.5 h). From here it is 15–25 minutes on foot or metro to Passeig de Gràcia.

Passeig de Gràcia houses

  1. 09:00–10:30 — Casa Vicens (or start at Batlló if Vicens does not fit).
  2. 11:00–12:30 — Casa Batlló or Casa Milà inside; the other from the street.
  3. Lunch in Eixample, then Sagrada Família (~14:00–16:00) or Park Güell for softer light.

Do not stack Sagrada and Park Güell back-to-back without buffer time: 25–40 minutes of transit plus security. An eSIM keeps maps and QR tickets reachable.

Lesser-known Gaudí projects

Colegio Teresiano

Carrer de Ganduxer, 85–105 · metro Sarrià / Les Tres Torres. Parabolic arches are visible from the street; interiors only by arrangement or specialised tour. Easy to pair with a Sarrià neighbourhood walk.

Palau Güell

Carrer Nou de la Rambla, 3–5 · metro Liceu (L3). Early Eusebi Güell commission, dark interiors and a chimney-studded roof (~1 hour). Fits after the Gothic Quarter — not the same day as both Sagrada and Park Güell unless you like marathons.

Ready-made routes and sibling guides

Need a day scaffold: food tour day, day for a group of friends, or road-trip style day. After the houses, the same boulevard pairs well with our Barcelona shopping guide. Local experiences via partner tours are fine — but book Sagrada and Park Güell entries on the official sites.

FAQ

How many Gaudí sites fit in one day?

A comfortable max is 2–3 paid interiors plus façades from the street. Classic day: morning on Passeig de Gràcia (Batlló/Milà), then Sagrada Família or Park Güell in the afternoon. Trying to “do everything” burns budget and energy.

Do I need tickets in advance?

Yes for Sagrada Família and Park Güell’s monumental zone — online timed slots only. Casa Batlló, Casa Milà, and Casa Vicens also sell out in peak season. We do not sell official museum tickets as affiliate offers.

What is free to see?

Façades of Casa Batlló and Casa Milà, the exterior of Sagrada Família from the park across the street, Park Güell’s woodland area (outside the monumental zone), and the street view of Colegio Teresiano.

Is Sagrada Família finished in 2026?

In June 2026 the Tower of Jesus Christ was inaugurated for Gaudí’s centenary, but the basilica is still under construction. Always re-check slots and closures on sagradafamilia.org.

How do I move between sites without a taxi?

Walk Passeig de Gràcia; metro L2/L5 for Sagrada Família; bus 24 to Park Güell’s Carretera del Carmel entrance is easier than the Vallcarca climb. An eSIM helps with maps and tickets.
