Universal Studios Japan tickets in 2026: prices, Express, and Nintendo World

Universal Studios Japan does not have one price for all of 2026. Check the calendar date first: after sales open, that total can go up. Express does not include entry. A Super Nintendo World slot is not required every day — if entry control is on, the free ticket is claimed in the app after you are inside.

Prices and rules checked: 18 September 2026

How much is a Universal Studios Japan ticket in 2026?

There is no trustworthy flat price for the year. From 1 July 2026 the park sells admission for visits from 1 September 2026 on daily demand pricing. That is stated in the 30 June 2026 notice. A ticket you already bought does not need a top-up if the same date later costs more.

Why search results show both ¥8,400 and ¥8,900

The lineup page lists an adult 1-day pass from ¥8,900 and a 1.5-day pass from ¥14,300. The September 2026 sales calendar also shows some 1-day dates at ¥8,400. Those are tiers, not your date. From 1 September 2026 the park can raise a date after it goes on sale. A ticket you already bought does not need a top-up.

1-Day Studio PassFrom ¥8,900 on the official lineup pageAdult pricing starts at age 12. The September 2026 sales calendar also shows some dates at ¥8,400. After sales open, that date can get more expensive.
1.5-Day Studio PassFrom ¥14,300 on the official lineup pageDay 1 entry is from 15:00. Day 2 is from opening. The product page adds from ¥4,500 to the adult 1-day price.
Child / guests aged 65+Child 1-day from ¥5,700, age 65+ from ¥8,000 on the lineupA child is aged 4–11 on the visit day. Age 3 and under is free and needs no ticket. Age 12 and over is an adult ticket.
Universal Express PassDepends on the date and the setDoes not replace a Studio Pass. Read which attractions and areas the product name actually includes.

Open the day on the official tickets page and compare it with the lineup page. If a child is due to start Japanese junior high in April, the child price lasts until 31 March and an adult ticket is required from 1 April. Families the school calendar does not cover are priced by age on the visit day. Seasonal night products, including Halloween Horror Nights, are sold separately. A standard Studio Pass does not include them.

What one person, a couple, or a family actually pays

Let P be the standard Studio Pass price on your date, C the child rate that same day, and E the Express you picked. That is more reliable than copying someone else's receipt.

A guest aged 3 or under is not in the formula: no separate ticket is required. Do not buy a non-refundable park ticket until the flight into Osaka or Kansai and a night near the park are settled. Park tickets and airfare follow different cancellation rules.

Where should a foreign visitor buy tickets?

The default channel is the official Universal Studios Japan site and its web ticket store. That is where the calendar and the full Express range live. The park also lists selected travel-agency packages as a way to lock a popular-area slot in advance. That is not a substitute for the official board and not a hidden discount.

If you compare a transfer-plus-entry package, treat tours and ticket offers as a third-party option only. The official day price is still the one on usj.co.jp. Do not buy a QR code from a seller the park confirmation does not name: the ticket is tied to a date and a guest.

How to buy a Studio Pass without a document mismatch

  1. Pick the visit date first, then compare the 1-day and 1.5-day products.
  2. Set each guest category: standard, child aged 4–11, or guest aged 65+.
  3. Type the name exactly as it appears in the passport you will carry to the gate.
  4. Save the QR code and install the official app before you land in Osaka.
  5. Live waits and the Nintendo World slot need a connection. Get a Japan eSIM or Yesim before the morning, not public Wi-Fi at the turnstile.

A web ticket bought in advance usually does not need a paper Studio Pass exchange: you show the QR at the gate. Follow the instruction in your own confirmation, not a last-season blog diagram.

Universal Express: when it is worth paying

Express does not include park entry

The Express page says you still need a Studio Pass that day. Types and prices change by date. The pass works only on the printed day, you cannot hand it to someone else, and a late arrival does not get a refund or a new time.

Nintendo World is the reason you came

Buy only an Express whose name includes area entry. Other passes will not get you in.

A weekday that is not a holiday

Arrive for opening and read live waits in the app before you pay extra.

A family with mixed heights

Pay Express only for the people who clear the ride restriction. For everyone else it is a wasted add-on.

How to get into Super Nintendo World

An extra slot is not required every day. The area page says you may be able to enter without a timed-entry ticket, depending on the day. If control is on, there are two paths: a slot bought ahead inside an Express or a package, or a free ticket in the official app after you enter the park.

  • From 5 January 2026 those free tickets are issued only in the app. You need the latest version: iOS 17 or newer, or Android 9 or newer.
  • Register the Studio Pass or annual pass first. The slot itself is issued only inside the park, and only for a ticket registered on the visit day.
  • You can hold one such e-ticket per day. If you already have a timed-entry ticket, the app will not issue Standby for the same area.
  • Once the timed-entry quota is gone, the app may offer a Standby Entry Ticket. That is a lottery: entry is not guaranteed, and the order tickets were issued does not decide the result. Get it at least one hour before the window you want. Issuing stops three hours before the park closes.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter uses a different rule. When that area restricts entry, you need an area-entry ticket, sold with some Express passes and travel-agency packages. On other days you can walk in without one. While the restriction is on, you cannot leave the area and come back. Do not book both worlds for the same hour.

How to get there and where to sleep

The park is at 2-1-33 Sakurajima, Konohana-ku, Osaka. Ride to Universal City on the JR Yumesaki Line (also signed Sakurajima Line), then walk through Universal CityWalk. The map is on the official access page. Do not get off at the next stop, Sakurajima: that is not the gate.

A rail pass does not replace a Studio Pass. Osaka and the park do not share one base well: a night by Universal City is useful for rope drop, Umeda and Namba are for the city. Family rooms by the gate are in the Osaka hotels with kids guide, and themed categories near USJ are in the unusual Osaka hotels guide. Compare dates via hotels in Osaka, but that does not change the park price.

A short day plan, and how this park differs from Beijing

  • Before opening: Hollywood, New York, Minion Park, and Universal Wonderland if you are with small children.
  • If Super Nintendo World has entry control on, claim the slot right after the turnstile. On those days the Wizarding World is a separate entry ticket, often inside Express, not the same free slot.
  • Thrill rides (Hollywood Dream, Flying Dinosaur, Jurassic) go in the second half. If entry control is on that day, claim the area slot right after you enter.
  • Tie WaterWorld to the posted showtime, not to sometime after lunch.

This is not the Beijing park and not Sentosa. Different tickets, a different train, and a different Nintendo World rule. Beijing is in the Universal Studios Beijing guide. The Sentosa park is in the Singapore parks guide. If the Osaka day is not only rides, the teamLab Japan guide is the closer cousin: that visit is also a timed slot, not walk-up entry.

Refunds and date changes

  • Cancellation: the official FAQ attached to the price change says a purchased admission ticket cannot simply be returned. The exception is grounds the law recognizes. Some tickets can add a separate USJ cancellation insurance policy. That is not a refund at the ticket window.
  • Date change: for tickets on the change list, you can apply from the purchase day until the 90th day counted from the day after the original visit date. The change is free for now, but a fee may be added later. You cannot change the ticket type, the number of tickets, or the guest category. On the 1.5-day product page, a date change is listed only for a card payment when that ticket is bought alone, not in a bundle and not at a convenience store.
  • Express: a missed slot is not refunded and the time does not move. Do not mix that rule with Studio Pass rules.

The full wording is in the pricing notice. Travel-agency packages have their own terms: write to the channel that took the payment.

Morning-of checklist

  • The ticket is for today, and the QR opens offline or is saved as a screenshot.
  • The latest app is on the phone: iOS 17 or newer, or Android 9 or newer. The Studio Pass is registered. The area slot is claimed only after you enter.
  • A large suitcase stays in storage by the gate. It cannot come in, and a standard Studio Pass does not let you leave and return.
  • The first ride is chosen before opening, not at the map inside the crowd.

FAQ

How much do Universal Studios Japan tickets cost in 2026?

There is no single price. The official lineup lists an adult 1-day pass from ¥8,900 and a 1.5-day pass from ¥14,300. The September 2026 sales calendar also shows some 1-day dates from ¥8,400. From 1 September 2026 the park can raise the price of a date after it goes on sale. Check the calendar total before you pay.

Does an Express Pass include park entry?

No. The official Express page says you still need a Studio Pass for the same date, such as a 1-day pass or an annual pass. The attraction set and the Express price change by day.

How do you enter Super Nintendo World without Express?

From 5 January 2026 the free Area Timed Entry Ticket and the Standby Entry Ticket are issued only in the official app, and only inside the park. Standby is a lottery and does not guarantee entry. On a quiet day the park may not turn entry control on, and then no extra slot is required. If the free slots are gone, you need an Express whose name already includes area entry.

Can you refund a ticket or change the date?

A purchased ticket cannot be cancelled except where the law recognizes grounds for cancellation. Some tickets can add a separate cancellation insurance policy, and that is not a refund at the gate. Dates on the change list can be moved from the purchase day until the 90th day counted from the day after the original visit date. You cannot change the ticket type or the guest category in that move.

Can you leave the park and come back in?

A standard Studio Pass does not allow re-entry. Annual passes are the exception. Do not plan a city lunch and a return to the park on a 1-day ticket.

Where is the park and how do you get there?

The address is 2-1-33 Sakurajima, Konohana-ku, Osaka. The nearest station is Universal City on the JR Yumesaki Line, also signed as the Sakurajima Line. The next stop, Sakurajima, is not the park gate. Walk through Universal CityWalk from the station.

Are hotels by the park downtown Osaka?

No. Universal Studios Japan sits in Sakurajima on the bay, separate from Umeda and Namba. A night by Universal City Station is practical for a park day. Do not use that base for city days as well.
